Your body does all the work

I specialize in working with clients who experience pain in specific areas of their body. Often the culprit is a muscular imbalance brought on by an injury, poor posture, or too much time sitting. I help relax tired, overstressed muscles that are pulling bones out of alignment and bring them back to a more natural, healthy and flexible state. I challenge myself to actively keep learning and currently offer a variety of techniques tailored to meet each individual's needs. You'll be surprise...

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Deep tissue massage also received a top ranking for fibromyalgia pain. People often notice improved range of motion immediately after a deep tissue massage.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage incorporates heated stones as part of the therapy. The therapist will uses the smooth stones as either an extension of their hands or by placing them on the body. The stones are typically very smooth-surfaced basalt stones, in which the high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help to warm up tight muscles that will allow the therapist to work more deeply, more quickly and with less pressure.

Sports Massage

Therapeutic sports massage is a type of massage technique that focuses on treating soft tissue aches, pain and injuries that are associated with recreational activities. Massage can reduce muscle stiffness and improve relaxation by reducing heart rate and blood pressure. Sports massage has become an integral part of the new athletic regimen from sports medicine clinics, to college training rooms, to professional locker rooms to Olympic training. Growing number of trainers believe that massage can provide an extra edge to the athletes who participate in high performance sports. Massage has become a necessary ingredient for a complete workout. More and more people are realizing that a complete workout routine includes not only the exercise itself, but also caring for the wear-and-tear and minor injuries that naturally occur with strenuous movement. The physiological and psychological benefits of massage make it an ideal complement to a total conditioning program.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is an alternative therapy that focuses on detecting and releasing trigger points. Located in the skeletal muscle, trigger points are spots that produce pain when compressed. In many cases, trigger points form as a result of trauma to the muscle fibers.

Pregnancy

Prenatal massage or pregnancy massage is massage therapy specifically tailored for a pregnant Prenatal massage may help to reduce stress, decrease swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. Not only can massage be physically beneficial, but the human touch can be comforting and provide emotional support during pregnancy. Preliminary studies also suggest that massage therapy may reduce anxiety and depression

Cupping Methods

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite. For weight loss and cellulite treatments, oil is first applied to the skin, and then the cups are moved up and down the surrounding area.

Swedish

Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. If it's your first time or you don't get massage often, Swedish massage is the best place to start. The Swedish body massage is the combination of many different techniques rolled into one session. During this therapy session the therapist will work with the soft tissues and muscles in the body to help restore balance and health. The end result will relax all of the muscles in your body and to release any pain that tension may exist. A Swedish body massage is the perfect way for anyone who is overly worked and stressed out to relax their body and mind. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury.

I enjoyed talking with Roy prior to the massage. He asked important questions to help understand my background, what I do daily, and areas on my body I may be having pain/discomfort with. Roy was kind, considerate, and wonderful to work with. The message felt great and you can tell he has years of experience! I would highly recommend RMS and Roy to any of my friends and family.
