I am a board-certified and licensed massage therapist who is
interested in proper alignment of the body. With over 12 years of experience, I
understand that neither a sedentary nor an active lifestyle is free from muscle tension and pain whose effects reverberate throughout the body. I graduated from a 600-hour accredited massage school several years after receiving
postgraduate degrees in Biological Anthropology. I began my massage career as a classically
trained Swedish therapist to alleviate stress and tension from daily
activities, and gradually advanced my career by becoming certified in
myofascial release. One of my goals for massage is alignment of the body by
releasing muscle and connective tissue (fascia) restrictions using myofascial and positional
release techniques. I use these
techniques also to manage pain from injuries, surgery, overuse or inflammation.
I weave other integrative therapies into my practice give to
greater dimension to body alignment through massage. I believe in stretch therapy,
and often use assisted stretch protocols with massage to help my clients gain
flexibility and better range of motion. I seized an opportunity to train independently with a dentist/craniosacral
therapist to learn how this subtle therapy can address TMJ issues, sinus pain,
vertigo and headaches. And I recently began the Healing Touch Program to offer
clients a calmer state of mind and deep relaxation through alignment of the
body’s chakras and energy fields.
My professional life over the last 12 years has taken me through advanced training in massage, to craniosacral therapy and to the early stages of Healing Touch. In my practice it is the skillful use of hands, the understanding of the clients’ pain, and the intangible connection I make with many of my clients that makes me the therapist I am today. I am honored and grateful to everyone who trusts me with the care of their bodies!
