Massage is a systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the
body that focus on muscles relevant to daily activity. Many different
movements and techniques are used in; Examples of these
techniques include; effleurage (stroking), petrissage (kneading),
compression, friction, tapotement (rhythmic striking), vibration,
gliding, stretching, percussion and trigger points.
Regardless of the type of massage/bodywork (sports, relaxing) these movements and techniques are used to help the individual's body achieve recovery and maximum performance (correct the muscles firing order), Restore (reduce pain), Re-balance (decompress your spine, roll back the shoulders, improve posture), Calm the mind (thoughts drift away and become sorted and organized) allowing you to take on a task with less stress and enjoy activities of daily living, a new perspective.
