Too often, we put off the care and keeping of our bodies until they make some noise...an ache, a pain, a creaking joint, or worse, full-on discomfort. It just takes a little investment in our physical selves to reap major benefits that will last a lifetime. Not only does massage relax muscles, but it relaxes the brain, and the central nervous system sends out feel-good hormones that benefit the entire body. It can reduce inflammation, re-nourish cells with oxygen, and boost the immune system.
I graduated from New Life Institute of Massage Therapy (now Gwinnett College) in July 1998. Having worked administratively in the medical field since graduating high school, I knew I wanted to be involved somehow in helping others care for themselves physically. Avidly against the "medical motto" of covering up aches, pains and other ailments with a prescription, I chose Massage Therapy. A whole new world opened up for me when I walked into my first classroom, and I am so excited to share what I learned with you.
