Hello! I'm Jessica, and my goal during my time with clients is to bring you fully into your body to support your own unique process of healing, grounding, and growing. My specialty lies in integrating Swedish and deep tissue massage with CranioSacral Therapy to target acute and chronic pain and discomfort while settling the nervous system to support your body in finding balance.  I would describe my work as settling, subtle, and mindful. I have a particular interest in working with parents and primary caregivers of small children and teens, individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, and insomnia, and those who suffer from chronic headaches.

I have been a registered massage practitioner in Maryland (R01043) since 2006. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and have served on the board of the DC chapter. I have received continuing education in pre- and post-natal massage, pediatric massage, infant massage instruction, and active isolated stretching, and advanced training in Upledger's CranioSacral Therapy (including techniques for chronic depletion) and SomatoEmotional Release. I have experience teaching massage at both the professional and community level.  In addition to massage, I am a Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Baby & Toddler Yoga Teacher, and teach yoga classes for children ages 6 weeks-12 years.

Outside the massage room and yoga space, I enjoy knitting, gardening, cooking (bonus points for cooking foods I've grown in my garden), and playing outdoors with my daughter.

Jessica was absolutely fantastic. She listened to my concerns and problem areas and provided a really peaceful and customized massage. I left feeling refreshed and pain free. The atmosphere of the office was also so calming and relaxing. Highly recommend Shine, they are wonderful!

I felt very relaxed and experienced much relief during the massage. However, it didn't seem to last. I spent the evening laying on my heating pad, and the pain that I experienced prior to the massage didn't require a heating pad, so I'm not sure what happened to elevate it. In my very first massage with Turtle, by contrast, I remember feeling as though I was walking on a cloud for at least a week. So I was looking forward to that experience, especially on my birthday. Perhaps my body was in overall worse shape preceding this massage than my first experience with Turtle a few months ago, but I don't think that's the case. I did really appreciate Jessica's recommendation of the over head stretch to offer some relief in my shoulders. I do that stretch in my yoga practice every now and then and I always forget how good it feels :)
