After earning my MS in biomedical sciences I worked in biomedical research for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. After earning my MS in biomedical sciences I worked in biomedical research for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. However, the longer I worked in the lab environment, the less I enjoyed it, and I realized I wanted to be more directly connected to people and helping them become or remain healthy. I have always liked massage, both giving it and receiving it. When I was a kid, I used to walk on my father's back (Ashiatsu style!) which he loved. Later in life, during college and while in the lab, many friends and colleagues benefited from my firm grip and willingness to work on their necks and shoulders.
I realized that I could fairly easily transition to a career in massage therapy, which takes advantage of my scientific background plus my natural curiosity and love of massage. So, I dedicated myself to study at the Cincinnati School of Medical Massage while working part-time at a local massage spa to learn more about the business aspects. While in school, I developed a particular interest in Myofasical Release and have since begun working toward master's level certification. After graduation and receiving my Ohio Medical Board LMT license in 2016, I worked for two massage spas, gaining additional valuable experience. After a few months, however, I realized that I would be happier with my own practice that would allow me to incorporate the modalities and techniques I am most interested in, including Myofascial Release and my unique style of Swedish relaxation massage. I also prefer to develop a strong professional relationship with my clients so that I can better help them overcome the pain and tightness that impedes their function.
I am excited to continue expanding my knowledge, skills and understanding of the many therapeutic massage modalities and incorporating them into my practice. I hope you choose to be part of my journey towards our betterment and well being.
