My name is Komi Akakpo (also known as AK46). I have a strong background in philosophy and theology; I also have served for 6 years in the United States Navy with distinction, leading to an honorable discharge. AK46 was my nickname in the US Marines: as a US NAVY Corpsman in the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Warfare. AK from my last and first name initials, and 46 as my military ID. My marines always tell me that I have a healing hands. That’s why AK46 HEALING TOUCH.

When I got of the service, I have been admitted at the Soma Institute, a national school for clinical massage therapy located in downtown Chicago where I have acquired an extensive knowledge of deep tissue, sports, chair, lymphatic drainage and Swedish massage techniques and a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology. I have strong foundations in clinical analysis and massage indications and experience with sports injuries, stress reduction and the  Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan (S.O.A.P) note charting.

As a veteran, I have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail and am able to assess patients’ needs and provide services to meet those needs.

 I have volunteered at Jesse Brown VA Medical Hospital and I have also been an active member of Ministry of Care at the Holy Name Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Chicago since 2014 to 2017 providing spiritual support to the patients of Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago.
