Prolong Active Life with Therapeutic Bodywork

About Me

I had been working in the corporate world for 18 years when the memory of my first massage prompted me to change careers.

I remember having my first massage during a visit to China.  The experience was wonderful. My back, arms, and legs felt loose from the massage. The chronic pain and stress I had been feeling was relieved. After returning from this trip, I knew it was time to start making a change.

The transition from a corporate world job to a career in massage therapy was difficult and challenging. However, the rewards in becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) have outweighed all the difficulties and challenges I experienced.  To be able to help my elderly parents with shoulder and hip joint mobilization as well as free up adhesions to allow the return full range of motion has been only one of the many rewards I have received from becoming a massage therapist.  Now I also want to help the individuals who work hard and are trying to maintain an active life.

I really liked the manual lymphatic drainage massage. I immediately notice a difference in my sinus and today (day after) I feel energetic and well.

Definite help to my situation

I booked a two-hour massage. It was available for booking and I felt like treating myself (confirmed via FB days before) When I arrived, he seemed hesitant about which type of massage I needed and the length of time I booked. I’m a novice. The description on the booking says I can choose relaxation or muscle massage or leave it up to him. I told him I only had issues with my neck/shoulder, but he said that people often don’t know they’re having issues elsewhere til he finds them. “We” went with a muscle massage and much of it hurt (not a good hurt.) He could have made the decision to switch to a relaxation massage after I told him it hurt multiple times or when he kept telling me he was getting a workout with this two-hour massage or when he realized... I’m fat. He said I had “a lot of skin” and “a lot of body mass.” Maybe he’s never massaged a fat person and it caught him by surprise. After it was over and he blamed his two-hour workout on my body mass, he told me that people don’t usually book two-hour massages and he doesn’t have the stamina for it. Next time I get a massage elsewhere, I’ll ask if they have experience with fat people

Douglas adjusts to what my muscles need. He listens to my requests at each visit and works on those areas to help me reach my goals. I have a rare degenerative muscle disease so my pain is chronic. After a massage by Douglas, I always have pain relief and increased range of motion. I highly recommend Douglas at PAL for any therapeutic massage need.

Douglas is fantastic. I have a chronic muscle disease and he has been able to help me way more than I imagined. My range of motion has increased and I was able to get some pain relief. He is very skilled and will adapt to what your needs are.

So glad I found him. If you have aches and pains a massage might feel good but the issues don't get worked out. I will be seeing him again!

Ronald was professional, kind, informative, did an incredible job and has magical hands and techniques. I have already recommended him to several people.
