Thai Massage

Most traditional Thai healers trace their lineage back to the "Father Doctor: Shivagakomarpaj, the Buddha's personal physician. The lineage indication of authenticity and mark of high quality. What is Thai Massage? Thai Massage has many names: Thai Yoga Massage, Nuad Boran, Nuad Paan Boran, and Nuad Thai, all are traditional healing modalities, which has been practiced in Thailand for centuries. Based on Ayurvedic Medicine and Yoga from India, this art form has been handed down through an unbroken chain of masters for centuries. Thai Massage incorporates a traditional combination of acupressure, energy meridian work and Yoga-like stretching. Thai Massage is different from many countries forms of massage in that there is no oil used, the therapist uses a mattress on the floor.

Reiki Master from the Usui lineage: Dr. Mikao Usui, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi, Chiyoko Yamaguchi, Hyakuten Inamoto, William Lee Rand, Deirdre Affleck

My father inspired me to be a Reiki practitioner. When dad came down with pancreatic cancer he sought many ways to improve his quality of life. From Reflexology to a Reiki. Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain. The benefits as a Reiki Practitioner, I have an intuition that I can't explain that guides and amazes me. It makes me a better Massage Therapist.

(Re)Defining the Core: The Key to Functional & Corrective Exercise 7/12/19

(Re)Defining the Core: The Key to Functional & Corrective Exercise Clinicians understand that lasting pain relief and truly improved fitness depend on core stability and peripheral mobility. But long-term results are elusive! It is generally agreed that to have peripheral mobility, you must have core stability. Functional exercise is any exercise which acknowledges this and engages the body for this express purpose. Participants in this experiential and hands-on workshop observe (or act as test subjects!) as we use sEMG to explore the primary defensive bias governing the Central Nervous System, the body’s true Core. Once we have observed this bias, which we’ll call the “Twist,” we discuss how it leads to the most common functional problems. Rather than focusing on targeting areas for strength or stability, participants learn to correct movement dysfunction by directing appropriate exercise toward the CNS. These methods can be easily learned and applied by athletic trainers and related health and fitness professionals, massage therapists, physical and occupational therapists - anyone who uses exercise as part or all of their program. Participants will leave this seminar equipped with new knowledge and strategies to help move clients and patients through the vital steps toward lasting function: improved balance, coordination, and effortless posture. Speaker Five years after a severe back injury in 1980, DAVID LEMKE, NMT, sEMG Tech began his apprenticeship as a massage therapist in Canada. After 10 years of successfully treating thousands of pain sufferers, he had a breakthrough when information from a kinesiological surface electromyography (sEMG) evaluation led him to discover that single manipulation freed a borderline frozen shoulder and eliminated nearly all the pain – and the results lasted. Mr. Lemke eventually developed a unique model of functional assessment using sEMG. Since the 1990s, his treatment has been relied on by top performing athletes, dancers and martial artists, those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, and generally stressed individuals. As a passionate interest, Mr. Lemke has enjoyed working with select special education teachers treating motor coordination problems in children diagnosed with learning disabilities. He is a Certified Dartfish Video Coach and uses slow motion video analysis of biomechanics in athletics and rehabilitation. He has used kinesiological sEMG (computer aided muscle analysis) in testing of exercise equipment, devices, and new treatment procedures as well as trained hundreds of specialized massage therapists for physical therapy and complementary healthcare clinics. Mr. Lemke was the primary consultant to Champions Sports Medicine (Dr. P.Z. Pearce, Ironman Medical Director, Spokane, WA) in the creation of their Biomechanics lab. Learn more at davelemke.us

Myo Zen Therapy

MyoZen Therapy built on the foundation of clinical aspects of medical massage, incorporating components of neuromuscular, myofascial, and trigger point therapy. MyoZen Therapy uses a specific protocol and methodical approach allowing for more efficient access to the underlying muscle fibers, creating a laser focus treatment. The biomechanical techniques used in MyoZen therapy aid the therapist in targeting specific areas for maximum results with minimal effort, saving the hands and body of the practitioner. This is the technique I use for Therapeutic Deep Tissue.

Naturopathy

Spices As Natural Medicines by Merrily Kuhn, RN,ND,PhD

There are many Healthy Alternative Medicines out there. Taking this continual education class opened my eyes wider to delve into the Natural Healing Books. My Mom gave me the books, Dad used when going through his Cancer. There you can look up symptoms, get an understanding of what each organ does, and try something others have found that works. I suffered from IBS, heartburn, stomach problems, acid reflux and was told I have a fatty liver. The doctors couldn't find anything what was causing the problem. Over the years I discovered I was Magnesium deficient, and got on the supplement that changed all that for me. I feel confident to point people in the right direction, and have them check with their doctors to confirm my suspicions.

Getting a massage is a regular practice of mine for relieving tension. I found Paula to be very knowledgeable about various massage techniques and takes an eclectic approach by finding her own, very effective approach. I had developed some newer knots and tightness in my body from moving to Nashville, as well as an older, more chronic muscle adhesion, and Paula was able to address all my needs in a 90-minute session. Waking up the morning after, I feel like I can move my shoulders again! I highly recommend Paula for both relaxation and pain relief.
