She is a 1994 graduate of East Carolina University Nursing School, and her nursing career experiences include Critical Care, Trauma, and Emergency Nursing. She continues to practice as a Registered Nurse at Duke University Hospital.

In 2020 she completed her plant based nutrition certificate from the T. Colin Campbell Center For Nutrition Studies through eCornell. She is passionate about how whole food, combined with mindfulness and movement, contribute to an individual’s overall sense of happiness and well-being.
