After a 20+ year career in academia while raising four children, in 2017 I began a new phase in my professional life. The children were grown and I had met most of my scholarly goals, so for a change I began studying massage therapy at Harrisburg Area Community College. I found a new passion!
Since graduating in November of 2017 I have been constantly growing my knowledge and skills, both through continuing education classes and self-directed learning and through hands-on work with hundreds of clients. I began working at a local spa franchise in 2018 as I slowly transitioned out of higher education and into massage full-time. I am now fully independent, offering what I hope is a fairly unique massage experience that incorporates many specialized approaches to pain management and recovery into an overall context of relaxation and peace.
I like to think of massage as a first-stop for issues like sciatica, low back pain, shoulder problems, headaches, TMJ, carpal tunnel, and other issues. I can't always "fix" a problem, but sometimes I can, and that's one of my two favorite things about massage.
My second favorite thing about massage is that, as Beethoven said of music, it mediates the sensate and the spiritual. I try in my sessions to create a zone of rest, safety, and wholeness. Sound, smell, and of course touch are all harmonized as I use my intuition to bring my clients into a state of deep peace and wellbeing.
You see from that description why I love massage so much: it integrates the physical with the spiritual, medicine with meditation, the technical with the mystical. Pay me a visit and see if you agree.
