Ashiatsu Therapist

What inspired me to become a bodyworker? My Mother. Growing up my mother would always rub my sister and I's back, neck and scalp especially when we had headaches. My sister suffered from terrible migraines. When I was in high school I had a minor accident and the result was whiplash. I went to physical therapy but I kept a severe headache for three months following. My mother took me to get a massage and after a few sessions the headaches went away. I knew from that moment that I wanted to do...

I knew from that moment that I wanted to do that, I wanted to give people relief from their aches and pains.

I received my 650hr certification from Body Therapy Institute in Siler City, North Carolina. Since becoming licensed in 2011 I have become certified in;
Assisted Sports Massage, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, Traditional Hawaiian Massage, Zen Japanese Facial Massage, Healing Plantar Fasciitis, Ashiatsu Anterior, Side-lying, Stability Ball training, and Foam Rolling Myofascial release.

I specialize in Ashiatsu, it is a broad deep pressure applied with the foot. I stand on the table and use my feet to preform the massage while holding onto parallel bars install in the ceiling, the parallel bars allow for me to easily adjust the amount of pressure for each client. Ashiatsu is great for releasing low back pain, glutes and the hamstrings, and clients really love the pressure applied to the upper back and shoulders.

My office is located at Alamance Wellness Studio. We have 5 primary massage therapist and each of us specialize in a different technique. As therapist we understand the body is constantly moving and changing and sometimes a different therapist is necessary to achieve mental and physical well-being, for that reason we gladly refer clients to a bodywork that will help if we feel we can not.

In addition to massage I teach beginners Yoga, YogAerobics, and a Friday Night Yoga. YogAerobics includes stretching and strengthening utilizing the stability ball, it is a great workout for the core, legs and butt. Friday Night Yoga, or free flow yoga, is open to all levels. In candlelit room we start class with essential oils and a gentle warm up, then I allow the class flow freely doing any flow or traditional stretching they choose. While students flow I walk around doing lite massage. Class ends with a long Shavasana accompanied by a daily quote, meditation, or inspiration.
