Hi! I'm Darcy and I am a massage therapist and former fashion stylist who came to massage and bodywork through my own path of healing and continual learning to live in the whole body. I run a massage practice specializing in therapeutic medical massage and peri-natal massage. Through my work I hope to help clients understand their bodies, the patterns they hold, and help attune to the felt sense which we need to experience the world. In the time I’ve been a massage therapist, my expertise and skill have soared to incredible heights.
Some of the conditions I have work with include:
I have worked as a LMT and polarity practitioner in a variety of settings gyms, hospitals, and some of the busiest luxury spas in New York City. I retain approximately 80% of my clients and since exiting massage school I have performed 1000s of massages. I am also a practitioner of Polarity therapy and my work is greatly influenced by principles of that work. Polarity therapy is a type of energy work based in Ayurvedic + Yogic principles and includes a variety of techniques from a spectrum of modalities that includes craniosacral work and reflexology. Additionally, I often combine principles of structural integration and acupuncture energetics into my treatment strategy.
I am a graduate of the prestigious Swedish Institute in New York City which I graduated in April 2011. While there, I trained in Swedish, Clinical Therapeutic massage, and 5-Element Shiatsu. Much of my work is customized (even if you book a Swedish Massage) and my style of work is versatile. How I work depends on client preference, health, and how the body responds to the work (hard or deep doesn’t always work). Most of my massage work includes swedish massage techniques, acupressure, reflexology, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, principles of active release technique (ART), breath work and subtler touch and energetic techniques to facilitate changes in target areas. Most of my work is approached intuitively and approached from a therapeutic + clinical perspective and I tend to look at conditions or goals in a structurally integrated whole body way (think you just need your shoulders worked? Think again!). Sessions can also include Aromatherapy, Reiki, Reflexology, and Acupressure. I have been featured in many national and international publications including the Guardian and Huffington post for creating the MoneyBags Massage during the 2016 Presidential Election season to help clients recover from “Trump Anxiety.”
Additionally, I’ve also had the opportunity to partake in post-graduate training in New York, across the country, and have taken post-graduate courses at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA. I’m also Pre + Peri-Natal certified, Pedatric Certified, Craniosacral Therapist, and a Reiki Practitioner. In addition to these, other modalities I practice include, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Hot Stone Massage, Polarity Therapy and am skilled in a variety of body treatments (from wraps, to scrubs, etc). I am also currently working on a masters degree in Oriental Medicine.
