KISS (keep it simple stupid)

I find it a privilege to be a bodyworker. Treating you with respect, love and compassion is my top priority. My massage technique blends a variety of modalities learned throughout my career like Swedish, myofascial, Reflexology, stretching, trigger point and neuromuscular therapy. With the daily changes of our COVID world, social isolation and increased tension in our communities, stress is at an all time high. The human body is designed to cope with high stress but there are limits. What’s the cost of maintaining high stress levels? Here are some signals that tell us when we are nearing that boundary:

  • Old injuries present again
  • Increased pain and headaches
  • Mood swings
  • Poor sleep
  • Restlessness
  • Clumsiness
  • Fatigue

Massage therapy is great at activating the parasympathetic nervous system (the opposite of the fight, flight or freeze response) to bring the body back to homeostasis, relieve stress and its symptoms. This gets you back to your families, work, and physical activities!

I’ve trained to work with people of all ages, from all walks of life with a variety of health histories including: depression, anxiety, migraines, chronic pain, vertigo, pregnancy, fibromyalgia, limb amputation, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, PTSD, RA, MS, and ALS.

20+ years ago, tearing my right ACL showed me the healing power of the human body. I attended the College of Health Sciences at UW-Milwaukee and graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology (the study of human movement) with the intention of going to PT doctorate school. I changed my career focus to massage therapy in 2007 and worked at a local spa until 2016 when I started my own business. I attend continuing education workshops every year to keep my skills fresh and stay up on the latest in massage therapy research.

It’s amazing how massage can assist the body in healing and reducing pain. I believe wellness is achieved when the mind, body and spirit work efficiently in unison. Each of us needs to engage in caring for our own health. To stay healthy, I practice yoga and mindfulness meditation plus receive regular massage, chiropractic care, and acupuncture. Still working on the nutrition thing, ha! The body can heal itself!
