Heather Godmar is a licensed massage therapist, graduating in 2013 from the Solace Institute (now known as Mind Body Institute). She helps people needing rehab after injury resulting from repetitive and over use activities, exercise injuries, and trauma.

Her approach to bodywork is that the body is like silly putty. A hard, fast touch puts the body on edge and restricts the practitioners ability to reach in to the layers of soft tissue effectively. However, a broad, gradual application of pressure allows the tissue time to receive and process the neurological touch messages that create change and therefore healing. In practical terms for example, her use of deep tissue massage includes many techniques that therapeutically treat muscles as well as other connective tissue and does not include hard pressure as a means to beat out the tension.

Her favorite and most loved modalities include myofascial therapy, trigger point therapy, muscle energy technique, and deep tissue massage. She also believes in the importance of self-care and enjoys empowering and educating her clients to do this through the use of therapy balls and Ki Hara resistance stretching.

When she's not at work you can find her relaxing at home, at the beach, dining out, studying, bowling, stretching or listening to music or a podcast.

Her touch was just right. She inquired as we started if I wanted more or less pressure so we were on the same page. My massage was super relaxing, but left me feeling invigorated the rest of the day. I will definitely be back.
