Practicing massage therapy is a calling that began before I obtained my bachelors degree.
For massage training, I attended the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork on beautiful Kauai, Hawaii. Before this, I was at the National University of Natural Medicine studying Chinese Medicine in Portland, Oregon. In total, I have over 1000 hours of massage training.

My massage training focused on Structural Integration and Myofascial Release.  I have taken additional courses in Cranio Sacral, Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, Prenatal, Trigger Point, Swedish and Lomi Lomi.  My teacher Mark Olson Ph.D. focused on Neuroscience Affective Relational Model as such, I am a Trauma Informed therapist.

My sessions are somatically focused with an awareness induction before and after each session. My sessions incorporate Myofascial Release, Cranio Sacral and Structural Integration. Sessions are customized to each of my clients' needs.  I think my best sessions happen when clients are able to go deep into their experience of their bodies and come out with new awareness and sensation.

Massage works on many levels of a person's anatomy but for me, the most important system to consider is the nervous system.  Bringing gentle awareness and release to areas of the body that feel pain recalibrates the nervous system.  I refer out when I don't think I can help a person with their presentations and I work with people long term to help them achieve and maintain their goals.

I have a background in dance, yoga, meditation, and endurance sports. I love what I do because it allows me to be creative and incorporate my background knowledge with hands on work.

I have a passion for health and wellness and offer pharmaceutical grade Thorne supplements at a discount in my office.

I look forward to seeing how I can help you feel better in your body today.

Shannon did an amazing job. In my first visit itself I felt a lot of pain relief.
by Kareen on Dec 07
Shannon really listens to you and works with you on the issues you are having, spending time on the areas that are needed and explaining to you what she is feeling, seeing and doing. She is amazing and I highly recommend Shannon. My biggest problem area is my neck and I worry about pain when my neck is worked on but not once did I feel any pain or uncomfort.

I usually like a deep tissue beat down that involves sweat and tears. I was impressed by Shannon's techniques. She asked me to move or position in a way to better access those pesky tight muscles that I haven't done before and to great effect. Her precision in identifying the right area is matched by her application of pressure (both light and heavy) where they are needed. She was able to achieve the relaxation of deep tissue without an atomic elbow to the quads. I am definitely coming back for future sessions with Shannon. (thanks, Shannon!)
