My journey as a massage therapist began in an effort to learn to heal myself from old injuries. When I graduated massage school in 2007, I enrolled in a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi course that deeply influenced my "flow-y" working style. My philosophy has always been that the body must be in a state of relaxation to fully benefit from bodywork, and so my sessions are not only effective, but deeply centering. I have also studied Thai Bodywork and Corrective Exercise Therapy to complement my work, as well as Equine bodywork (for horses), but my heart is especially grateful for my introduction to CranioSacral Therapy, or CST. I initially sought out CST as a means to work with a horse I was doing massage with, and he was just not having any of it. He was very aggressive and reactive, so I could only do Myofascial release with him. Since then, almost every horse I have worked with just loves CST, and humans too! CST is fantastic for addressing short term problems such as Concussion, Whiplash, Migraines and other Headaches, Dizziness, Vertigo, Dental Trauma, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD), Emotional stress, as well as Immune system support. It also has lasting effects for long term issues such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Fibromyalgia, Autism, Alzheimer's and Dementia and Spinal Cord Injuries. I am excited to see how CranioSacral shapes our health care options in the years to come. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
