My interest in massage began around the age of thirteen. My father had Polio with a full metal leg brace, back brace, and two crutches. He would get what is referred to as hammer toe--where the toes curl downwards under the foot and the bottom of the foot caves into itself. I would massage his feet and help uncurl his toes so he could place his feet inside his boots in order for him to put his leg brace on.
