As an EMDR practitioner and Yoga therapist I will work with you to reprocess past traumas that have become "stuck", creating negative patterns such as negative core beliefs, emotional reactions based on the past, chronic pain and emotional eating.  EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidence based, internationally recognized psychotherapy designed to reprocess trauma in a way that takes the emotional "charge" out of the memory and store it in a more functional way in the memory bank.

Through the EMDR process I will work with you to develop a skill set to manage troubling symptoms that often accompany trauma such as intrusive thoughts, anxiety, difficulty sleeping and emotional eating. I will weave the core basics of yoga - breathing, grounding, mindfulness and movement - as well as visualization, into our sessions to ensure you can manage ongoing anxiety related to the event/memory. I am also available for private yoga sessions as part of the EMDR process or as a stand alone session.

There are many types of traumatic events that can be appropriate for EMDR. These may include childhood abuse, sexual abuse, assault, domestic violence and accidents. Single episode events may be resolved in as little as a few sessions while other trauma may require ongoing sessions. Our first session I will work with you to assess the appropriateness of EMDR for your particular situation then collaboratively develop a treatment plan. This plan may be short-term or long-term depending on your needs. I also offer free 20 minute initial consultations.  I look forward to accompanying you on your healing process.
