I am a graduate of the massage program at Whatcom Community College, class of 2022. At
WCC, I received training in Swedish relaxation massage, hydrotherapy, lymphatic
facilitation techniques, myofascial techniques, pregnancy massage, sports
massage, chair massage, cupping, and treatment techniques such as trigger point
therapy, positional release, neuromuscular techniques, deep transverse
friction, and ice massage. Treatment work
(especially trigger point therapy) resonated most with me during my training
and I’m passionate about helping my clients relieve painful symptoms that they
present with and formulating treatment plans that help them build awareness in
their bodies and manage their symptoms so that they can feel empowered,
embodied, and rejuvenated. My intention for my practice is to
practice clinical massage therapy and focus on treatment work. Given my
well-developed manual therapy skills, I can also competently provide excellent
therapeutic, full-body relaxation massage. I appreciate deep
work when I receive massage and my understanding of my own body and
biomechanics helps me to work deeply and apply an amount of pressure that some
clients prefer; I can confidently call myself a deep-tissue therapist. My career as a yoga teacher and
movement coach has been an immense inspiration for me to become a massage therapist
and I’m excited to continue to grow as a wellness professional. My goal is to
empower my clients by educating them about their body’s systems and helping
them develop tools to maximize their physical health. WCC’s training had
thorough ethical training and I am dedicated to do[ing] no harm and not
asserting authority or power over my clients’ agency, expertise, and autonomy
of their own bodies. I am highly skilled, ethical, and professional and I look
forward to growing my expertise as a massage therapist and contributing to our
growing industry. I deeply care about being an evidence and research-informed
practitioner and am dedicated to conducting legitimate research throughout my
career and thinking critically in all aspects of my career as a massage
therapist.
