Crossing the threshold into becoming a parent is an intense and wonderful time. I love supporting mothers and children through this tender period and the opportunities for growth, grace, and healing that arise. This is also a powerful time for fathers and partners. As we move through life, the dance of partnership with our children and partners continues to bring new challenges and growth opportunities. Teen years are an especially rich time.

I offer in person and online mental health counseling to support parents and children with a focus on counseling for teens, parenting a child with special needs and/or chronic illness, compassionate self-care, depression after pregnancy, and grief and bereavement.

I also offer Parent Coaching and Listening Mothers Groups to delve deeply into the specific needs of young families. My first vocational passion was working with children and teens with special needs. I have 12 years of experience supporting families in their homes and 13 years experience as a special education teacher. Those years have honed my skills for collaborating with and supporting families as they explore resources and adjust to their family’s unique situation.

Additionally, I facilitated groups for parents impacted by cancer and art therapy groups for children impacted by cancer at Seattles Gilda’s Club, and supported families experiencing cancer at Harmony Hills Cancer Retreats. My experience co-parenting my teenage stepson and my own daughter have deepened my personal awareness of the joys and challenges that parenting brings.

My personal introduction to yoga came as a teenager when my mother and I joined a neighbor’s weekly class together. After experiencing the transformational power of my own personal practice for many years, I chose to pursue certification. I trained in the Viniyoga Tradition in 2010 and have been offering classes for children and teens with chronic health conditions ever since. As described in the April 23, 2001 edition of Time magazine, Viniyoga “is the most highly customized form of yoga….function is stressed over form with an emphasis on integrating the flow of movement of the breath with the movement of the spine.”

Finding Center Counseling and Wellness Services is the culmination of my passions and life’s dreams. I invite families of all genders and constellations and am excited to support you as you journey through this river of life and navigate it’s twists and turns.
