She's particularly drawn to deep tissue and treatment work, but utilizes a holistic approach to maximize positive results, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, acupressure and assisted stretching. Because of her active lifestyle that she began at a young age, Ashley understands the aches and pains that come with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, as she is an avid mountain biker, skier and general outdoors enthusiast. She thoroughly enjoys helping people find relief from chronic issues, neck and low back pain are two of her specialties, and she particularly enjoys working with athletes, keeping them in fighting shape! She has experience working with all types of people, from professional athletes to those with postural pain from an office job or chronic migraines. She particularly enjoys working with anyone who wants less pain, as her preferred work is concentrated and detailed. She regularly recommends self-care homework, for people who wish to take their healing to another level!
Ashley is extremely personable and enjoys working with people, not just their bodies. She enjoys putting together the puzzle of how pain began in the first place, by asking questions about lifestyle. She thinks that there’s a lot of good that can come from having a working relationship with your massage therapist… she likes to get to know your body and habits so she can help you better! Her clients call her intuitive, thorough and detail oriented.
*If you want a quiet massage, let her know! (She sees a benefit in working together towards your healing goals… whether during the massage or after!)
Ashley studied Tourism and Outdoor leadership before becoming a massage therapist, and held many outdoor industry jobs... guiding rafts and rock climbing, teaching kayaking and working in ski resorts. Through numerous injuries and lots of knee pain, she found massage therapy to be her calling and completed her massage training at Whatcom Community College. She spent several years working at an athletic club in Bend, Oregon, as well as for spas and chiropractors (two ends of the bodywork spectrum!) which gives her a great variety of knowledge on the body.
When Ashley isn’t in her office, you’re most likely to find her on Galbraith with her border collie, Jasper.
