CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch, in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. This therapy stems from osteopathy, which is an approach that emphasizes the role of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease.
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Sports massage is a systematic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body that focuses on muscles relevant to a particular sport. Many different movements and techniques are used in sports massage. Examples of these techniques include; , effleurage, petrissage (kneading), compression, friction, tapotement (rhythmic striking), vibration, gliding, stretching, percussion and trigger points, MET (Muscle Energy Technique. These movements and techniques are used to try to help the athlete's body achieve maximum performance and physical conditioning with a decreased chance of injury or pain and a quicker recovery.
Thai massage looks like a cross between acupressure, yoga , and zen shiatsu and is inspired by Buddhist teachings. The actual massage consists of slow, rhythmic compressions and stretches along the body's energy lines, concentrating on applying pressure along 10 of the most important sen, using the palms of the hands, thumbs, elbows, and feet. Positioning the body into yoga-like poses and gently rock the body to open the joints and facilitate limbering.
A trigger point is a sensitive spot of irritated muscle that produces a sensation of perceived discomfort. These tender points of muscle are a common cause of muscle pain
(The breakdown of type 1 &2 scar tissue) The body produces a protein called collagen to help aide in repair of tears from sprains and strains. Scar tissue starts producing around two weeks of the initial injury and is more pliable and easier to realign but after 3-4 weeks, the collagen starts to get thicker and less pliable. Making it more uncomfortable to breakdown. Scar tissue is typically found in tendons, ligaments and joint capsules and can be found in the viscera and muscle bellies as well. As collagen lays down it can cause adhesion of adjacent tissue adding more tension and pain. The purpose of this technique is breakdown scar tissue and realign the fibers to make it more functional and eliminate chronic pain.
