A gentle, deep tissue approach

My journey towards a career in massage therapy has been an interesting, life-changing event full of growth and personal grace.  My touch may be described as gentle; however, this does not preclude the use of deep or firm pressure. My journey towards a career in massage therapy has been an interesting, life-changing event full of growth and personal grace.  My touch may be described as gentle; however, this does not preclude the use of deep or firm pressure. I strive for the pressure I apply to be perfect. Muscle tissue will often soften as touch is applied and the pressure may be graduated based on muscle condition and your goals for the session. I will accommodate your pressure request in a gentle, graduated pace. This often allows for a more firm pressure over the course of the massage without bruising or unnecessary discomfort. My intention during a massage session is to stay fully present while meeting you and your body’s need.

I was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina. I graduated from Swansboro High and soon thereafter received my Bachelor’s of Science in Wildlife Sciences from N.C. State. From Raleigh I began working temporary, seasonal positions in wildlife management research across the east coast and Midwest states. These positions helped me gain some necessary, practical experience in my field before attending and graduating from Texas A&M with a Master’s of Science.

Soon after leaving Texas I landed in north Florida working for a state wildlife management agency. It was in Florida that I began to work more extensively on my inner self and my journey towards a career as a massage therapist began.

I discovered the Florida School of Massage during a daylong workshop titled “Discover Massage.” The school is located in Gainesville, and is a unique space for self-awareness, empowerment, and healing. That one-day workshop planted a seed. Dissatisfaction at work, lack of personal purpose, and requests from my family that I return home further guided my decision to attend the full-time Massage and Hydrotherapy program at FSM before relocating to the Crystal Coast. I like to believe that everything happens for a reason, and that when we listen a higher calling will guide us towards the correct path.

I graduated from the Florida School of Massage in July 2013, and I immediately began working as a licensed massage therapist. Before attending FSM I felt I had a good understanding of the interconnectedness of my own mind, body, and spirit. I am now more than ever continuously humbled and awed at the intricate web of energy within us that connects us as fellow human beings.

I have been living in Hubert since December 2013, and now offer massage in Cape Carteret, Swansboro, and Jacksonville. My approach to massage is to stay fully present during the session while meeting the needs of the client; be it relaxation, energy balancing, or addressing muscle dysfunctions with neuromuscular trigger point therapy. I enjoy working cooperatively with clients so that we may all go forth in our community as healthy beings.
