Unity of Mind and Body

I graduated from the University of Texas in 2005 with a BA in Psychology, and minored in Business.  Immediately after graduation I worked for a private company CARD, Center for Autism and Related Disorders, I worked as a 1:1 therapist with autistic children.   I then discovered my passion to, literally, work ‘hands on’ in directly helping people.  I returned to school and in 2009, I graduated from the Texas Healing Arts Institute 500 hour program.  In May of 2011, I completed an additional 29...

In May of 2011, I completed an additional 290 hours of clinical massage therapy training.  I constantly strive to expand my knowledge and realm of experience with continuing education courses and am currently a Level 2 Pilates Instructor - Pilates Reformers Certification.  I have made a full circle and am a Behavioral Therapist working with CARD again, this time with a year goal to go back to school to get my PhD in Occupational Therapy.  To explore and educate oneself about the human body is endless and the journey continues.

What lead me to massage therapy was my personal learning experience in health and fitness and how I learned to listen to my body.  I became physically active which resulted in aches and pains, leading me to regularly seek out massage therapy for relief of muscular tension.  For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work with people and to be able to help in some way.  When I was five, I wanted to be a teacher “when I grow up.”  When I was 15, I wanted to become a doctor.   Today, I am lucky enough to be able to merge a variation of the two careers.  My goal as a health practitioner is to educate the public on pain prevention, help people reach recovery, and unite the mind and body onto a path of health and fitness.

I approach the human body from a postural perspective, treating a variety of conditions and addressing specific pain complaints by working with the alignment of the body.  I use integrative clinical massage techniques such as: Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Postural/Gait Analysis, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, and AIS Stretching; each are customized to suit individual needs.  Working together with my clients, I want to develop a wellness program to, not only prevent pain and injury, but also unite the mind and body into a state of wellbeing.

My personal discoveries with running, circuit training, yoga, playing sand volleyball, and ballroom dancing, challenges and expands my knowledge of body mechanics and movement in new ways.  I relate personal experience into my practice to further benefit my clients.  I hope that in working together, I can help clients tune into their own body in the discovery and understanding of body mechanics through a wellness program customized for each individual.

I look forward to working with you!
