Licensed Massage Therapist: The tool for a balanced life

I have always been drawn toward massage therapy as a profession ever since before I was in high school. I used to have lines of students during each break asking me to help with their neck or back pain, and somehow, I always knew what to do to help each person to feel better. However, I was told that I would never use it or be happy with it, so I waited a few years trying other professions before realizing that massage therapy really is my niche. It is a career that allows me to help so many people who are suffering from stress, physical and psychological pain, and more! There is literally no limitation to what massage can do as long as you are willing to try.

I attended Idaho State University's Massage Therapy Program, which in my opinion is the best in the state. This program is COMTA certified and the only massage school in Idaho whose students can apply for licensure in the state of Washington. I earned a Technical Certificate in Massage Therapy, which is 705 education hours, and I am working toward completing my AAS in Massage Therapy, which is 1168.5 education hours.

My work helps to relieve almost all painful conditions, post-surgical pain, stress, aids in reducing depression, helps with psychological problems such as PTSD, and too many other things to list. Essentially, my philosophy with massage therapy is if there is a will and both people are willing to participate then there isn't anything that massage cannot help! Many of my clients suffer from PTSD, are post-surgical, have had chronic pain for years, and they have all thanked me for being able to truly help with their problems. Granted, I always point out that it was a team effort with their other medical professionals, but they have sworn that the turning point for each of them was when they started working with me.

I own a small business in Arco, Idaho called Balance for Unity Massage & Bodywork. Most of my clients see me here, but I have recently started working at Idaho State University's Campus Recreation. This decision has made me more available in the Pocatello area and allows me to still be able to work out of my business and make house calls in the Mackay/Arco area.

As for hobbies and other interests outside of being a licensed massage therapist, I am a full-time student. Between my studies and massage, I am not involved in too much, but I hope to change that soon. Honestly, I wouldn't mind becoming certified to teach Qigong dance and travelling to learn different techniques and styles from their native origins, but I'll just have to wait for whatever the future brings.
