Pat Button

Dr. John Thie of Touch for Health fame used to say he helped clients in "remembering wellness." That is what I hope for my clients.

From a young age I always loved receiving massage, but I never imagined I would end up loving the giving of massage just as much.

I began my bodywork training apprenticing with an acupuncturist/Shiatsu practitioner. That was in the days before massage schools were readily available and before licensure existed in the massage profession. I then trained in Reiki through the second level.

I also studied (and certified when available) throughout the United States and Thailand in Trager, Healing Touch, Touch for Health, myofascial massage, companion animal massage including Tellington Touch, equine massage, cranio-sacral, acupressure, Shiatsu, Thai massage, Trauma Touch, Chair Massage with David Palmer, polarity, deep tissue, sports massage, therapeutic stretching, spa work and medical massage. I continue to study massage techniques every chance I get.

Though I love working with clients, especially non-human animals, I also have a passion for sharing the knowledge and training I have received with others, so over twenty years ago I began teaching massage through continuing education classes as well as in schools and corporations.

I truly believe that one of the most important elements in being a massage therapist is sharing information with others so they can find ways of self-healing. I want my clients and my students to be self empowered so they can be at their best in mind, body and spirit.

Chair Massage

I was the second therapist in New Mexico to offer chair massage following my studying with David Palmer, the originator of chair massage. I was interviewed by The Albuquerque Journal regarding chair massage. I was also interviewed by Massage Magazine regarding chair massage.

Thai Massage

I spent several months in Thailand in 1995 to learn Traditional Thai Medical Massage. I studied with several teachers to learn several different approaches to Thai Massage and have been offering this bodywork style to clients since my return to the states.

Spa

Spa Director

In 1990 I opened the first day spa in Albuquerque at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Offerings included herbal wraps, salt glows, facial massage/acupressure face lift, clay wraps, seaweed wraps and special foot bath reflexology sessions. I trained all the therapists in the techniques and oversaw the running of the spa.
