My 24 years of experience in the field of massage adds to my passion for understanding the body and how it repairs itself after injury.  I graduated from East-West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon in 2001.  Prior to massage I studied at the University of Iowa and received my Bachelor of Science in Sport, Health, Leisure and Physical studies with an emphasis in Recreation Therapy. I worked with Brain/Spinal cord injury patients and it was through that work that my passion for studying the role that physical touch plays in the healing process began.  After all these years, I am still fascinated with how the body works, how it repairs itself after injury, and recovers from stress. In 2009, an injury to my back eventually required surgery on my L-5 disc, giving me a new perspective on pain and recovery and how integral massage can be to healing.   I have spent 16 years working at the Nob Hill Spa in San Francisco, offering massage and body treatments as well as managing/training a team of 30 massage therapists. I have also worked closely with chiropractors in a clinic setting as well as taught massage technique and kinesiology at the Costa Rica School of Massage. My experience in all of these settings has molded me into the therapist I am today.

Massage is my art form.  Sometimes it feels like a dance: moving around the table, listening with ears and hands. Feeling and visualizing muscle fibers moving, tendons and ligaments attaching and joints moving freely. Intention with each stroke, movement, and stretch is integral for me as a massage therapist to deliver the best treatment for my client. I welcome you to experience…

I had lower and upper back soreness from working out which affected my movement for 3 days. After visiting Julie for an hour, the tightness was gone. I always feel better after a visit. She can always pinpoint the problem areas.

Julie is an incredible therapist how knows how to manipulate muscles with the best pressure for maximum effect. I appreciated her checking in with me consistently on pressure, yet hers was perfect at every point. She offers different aromatherapy options but was never pushy about it. Ive been having a shit week and her therapy was hugely beneficial, looking forward to going back.
