Rose aims for therapeutic, hands on treatments in the style of a mostly relaxing massage. The depth of pressure and techniques used are based on what you as a client actually enjoy and what kind of "stuff" your body has going on. The intention with each massage is to create space in the body, calm the nervous system and is always customized to your goals with bodywork. You'll see techniques like sports massage and deep tissue, myofascial release, PNF stretching, active release and trigger point therapy.
Rose has additional certifications in TMJ Disorders and experience working within a team of holistic providers. She has worked alongside chiropractors, acupuncturists and physical therapists to facilitate whole body wellness. She is dedicated to finding the right techniques that fit your needs!
About TMJ Massage : TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint aka, your jaw. Some people have an audible click or pop when opening or closing the jaw but dysfunction in the TMJ’s can also manifest other symptoms. Headaches, neck pain, difficulty swallowing can all be symptoms stemming from tight jaw muscles. Factors that lead to a tight jaw can be forward head posture, teeth grinding or clenching (hello stress!) and trauma to name a few. There are several muscles IN your mouth that make up the jaw complex that are inaccessible via external work. During a TMJ massage, Rose will likely do an intra-oral massage to treat those muscles, as well as external work to the anterior neck and accessory muscles. Increasing time in the session means more accessory muscles or full body being included in the work.
