Life's More Fun When You Feel Great!
You can find lasting relief from pain and regain your active lifestyle - even if you feel like you've tried everything else!
"I was in tears leaving because you gave me lots of hope and are nothing like going into the docs office and being a number. I totally appreciate your vibe, your knowledge, and entire skill set as well as your desire to really help because you care!" -KC
My name is Angela Marciano McCarthy and I'm a physical therapist specializing in myofascial release, a Pilates teacher and a Reiki Master. I've dedicated the past 30 years to helping people just like you break free from chronic or unexplained pain - particularly chronic or unexplained pain that seems to defy traditional treatment.
"You are a mgaician! My shoulder has so much more mobility today and I've been able to get up from the floor with way more ease!! My body is in so much less pain!". - AK
I'm a solo, cash based practitioner and so we'll do things differently than what you've experienced in the traditional US healthcare system. Your session will be dedicated one on one time with me. You will take and active role in your healing journey. Beginning at the initial evaluation and continuing throughout treatment, your input and your participation matters. I'll share my expert guidance and recommendations, but we need to come up with a plan that works for you together.
Your treatment sessions will integrate
- Manual therapies including myofascial release, viceral manipulation, and neuromuscular therapy, trigger point release, joint mobilization and more!
- You'll learn how to treat yourself at home for 5-15 minutes a day too for best results.
- Corrective exercise with a progression towards the Pilates Mat Work Series. Over time we'll create a custom 5-30 minute exercise home practice for you to continue long term, depending on your needs and goals.
- Education - you'll understand more about how your body works, how pain works, and you'll learn what to do more of, what to do less of, and how to modify the stuff you gotta do.
- We'll integrate Reiki Energy healing and healing meditation/breathwork/ mindfulness practices into your sessions and home programs.
I'm glad you're here!

What do I wear?
Please bring or wear a tank top and shorts so I can observe your whole body posture and movement.
On the day of your appointment, please refrain from wearing any lotion, oils, or creams. Myofascial Release is done with hand to body contact and lotions, oils, or creams will decrease the efficacy of treatments.
What is fascia? What is a fascial restriction?
The fascial system is a continuous web of connective tissue that runs throughout your body, from the tips of your toes to the top of your head and from the outermost layers of skin to the deepest layers and cells of your body. Rather than pounding the pavement and feeling your bones stacked like a pile of blocks, imagine your bones floating in a fluid filled fascial web! But it goes deeper than that - fascia surrounds every cell of your being.
Your fascia is made up in part by a fluid element called the ground substance. Ideally this ground substance should be fluid, but over time some areas of your fascia can become thicker and stiffer, even solid. This happens in response to
- misuse (doing things in wonky positions)
- over use (painting your whole house in a weekend or running a 5K after zero training)
- microtrauma caused by compensations your body makes to cover for other areas that are too stiff or too weak to do their jobs.
- injuries or surgeries
- inflammation
- birth trauma
Fascial Restrictions and Trigger Points make your muscles stiffer, weaker, and less coordinated. Over time this creates MORE compensations. (That's one reason that if you've had pain for a long time in one area, over time you may begin having pain in other areas - possibly near and possibly far.
Myofascial release is a safe and gentle, hands-on approach.
Your results are best when you:
1. Commit to regular treatment sessions. Most clients come weekly to begin for 6 sessions to start. After that, we'll reassess how it's going, your progress toward your goals, and any updates to your goals. You CAN come less than once a week to start, but it will take longer to gain momentum and reach your goals.
2. Consistently work your home care exercises or self release techniques. (We'll create a plan that works for your busy schedule!)
