move with ease

Mission

My mission is to increase awareness of and access to high-quality clinical massage and bodywork in order to contribute to the health of clients and the community.  I'm happy to help you move with ease and enjoy better health and well-being.

What to Expect in a Session

Clinical Massage sessions aim to help the client experience more ease, and overall well-being.  The therapist may employ a variety of modalities and approaches, including myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, athletic massage, passive and active stretching, trigger point therapy, and others.  The pressure and approaches used vary depending on the therapist's findings and client's comfort.  Generally, the work feels comfortable and pleasant, though there may be moments of intense sensation ("good hurt") as an area of restriction is releasing. It's important to notify me if a sensation is too intense ("bad hurt") so that we get the best results possible.

Bio

I live in Corvallis with my wife.  We raised our two kids in this area and are so glad to call it home.  There are many outdoor activities I enjoy, and I've always been a reader.

Before massage, I had careers in human resources and education.  For a few years, I also taught kinesiology and massage technique classes at Oregon School of Massage in Salem (2015-2018).

Fun fact: my wife and I taught English to high-schoolers in Ethiopia through Peace Corps for 9 months (2019-2020).  We would have been there longer, but a pandemic sent us home.

I chose to become a massage therapist because focused, purposeful clinical bodywork from a talented therapist helped me overcome a neck problem that I thought I'd had to live with--and I wanted to have that kind of impact on others also.

Etcetera

  • Rates: I offer sliding scales.  Please ask me for details.
  • Insurance: For those who have been in a car crash (MVA), I bill auto insurance (PIP) for treatments prescribed by a primary care provider.  Please ask me for details. I do not bill medical insurance but am able to provide receipts for you to submit for reimbursement on request.
  • Duration: My philosophy is that you should get what you pay for, so I do my best to give you "table time" for the duration of the session you book.  If you scheduled 60 minutes, you get 60 minutes on the table, plus intake and debrief time.
  • Dress: During sessions, you can be dressed or undressed to your comfort and will always be covered safely by a sheet if you are undressed.  If you prefer to receive bodywork in clothes you can move in (underwear or exercise outfits), that's fine with me.
  • Comfort: You'll be bolstered, propped, etc. to your comfort, and please ask me if there is anything that would make you more comfortable in session (blanket, pillow, anything). I may move a joint during session, or ask you to do some movements.  We'll always keep it safe and pain-free.
