Elevate your wellbeing with massage
Welcome to Evitus Massage, LLC located in the historic village of Derby Line, Vermont. My name is Michelle Moore a trauma-informed licensed Massage Therapist and Reiki Provider. Trauma-informed massage therapy means that I prioritize the client’s needs and preferences and work collaboratively with them during the massage.
I’m passionate about exploring the mind-body connection and restoring balance where needed. With a combination of several classes and my own experience managing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), I’m able to understand on both a professional and personal level how traumatic events can manifest in our bodies as physical and emotional pain. During the massage therapy session, I use conscious touch to help the client’s muscles recover, relax and reconnect with the nervous system in a supportive environment.
Massage Therapy can be an effective treatment for stress reduction, increased flexibility, improved circulation and chronic pain relief. It’s especially valuable if used as a supplement alongside other wellness treatments from health providers such as chiropractors, physical therapists, mental health providers, and primary care providers. Evitus Massage offers a broad range of massage treatments including deep tissue/trigger paint, prenatal, aromatherapy, swedish relaxation and somatic release.
Somatic release is a type of trauma-informed massage therapy. During the session I work collaboratively with the client. I adjust the setting (lighting, temperature, music, etc.) to accommodate individual needs.
I work collaboratively with my clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and in control throughout their session. During the massage we can modify techniques and stop at any time. I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment during the massage.

ABOUT THE THERAPIST
Thanks for visiting Evitus Massage. My name is Michelle Moore, LMT, a graduate of Spa Tech located in North Andover, Massachusetts. I understand how trauma can manifest as physical and emotional pain in our bodies. Several years ago, I worked long hours as a compliance officer in the technology sector while caring for a loved one in the active dying stage. During and after the grieving process, I found myself suffering with increased anxiety, depression, severe neck pain (also known as “tech neck”), headaches, and insomnia.
I found myself suffering with tech burnout, a state of extreme exhaustion and stress experienced by many individuals in the technology industry. It's characterized by feelings of energy depletion, chronic pain and increased mental distance from work. I took a few months off from work and was subsequently diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. The diagnosis helped me understand the importance of keeping the mind and body in alignment. It also changed my career path from doing the needful work in tech to transformative work in the wellness sector.
I was fortunate to receive specialized care from a remarkable Psychologist, Dr. Jennifer M. Smith, and subsequently participate in an out-patient treatment program for women with PTSD at the Mclean Hill Center located in Belmont Massachusetts.
As a result of the combined PTSD treatments, I learned how to effectively manage my PTSD symptoms and understand triggers. It helped me better understand the mind-body connection between stress, anxiety and its connection to chronic pain. Through treatment programs, therapy, my massage trainings, and research, I understood the positive effects of grounding techniques. Grounding techniques combined with stretching, and breath work proved as effective tools for managing my stress and overall wellbeing. I felt that it was easier for me to practice these techniques when I combined it with mindfulness and meditation, but especially helpful when combined with regular massage treatments as part of my self-care routine. This is the reason that I left my job in the technology sector to study and graduate from massage therapy school. My mission is to share my knowledge with others and help individuals jumpstart their wellness journey.
