In the year 2000 I was involved in a motor vehicle accident that left me with chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. One year of physical therapy was not very helpful and I figured I would just move on and live with the pain. I was later referred to a massage therapist and a chiropractor. Within just a couple of months of massage therapy I noticed a significant decrease in my pain. I continued to see my massage therapist and within a few more months I was pain free. This turn of events inspired me to do the same for others. I became a massage therapist in 2004. In the 15 years I have been a massage therapist I have the opportunity to work both in clinical and spa settings. Although I value the importance of relaxation massage, due to my personal experience I am more inspired by how deep tissue massage can be used to treat and manage injuries and chronic pain. To that end, most of my continuing education has centered around focusing and honing my skills and knowledge of deep tissue massage including obtaining a master level Medical Massage Therapist certification through LMT Success Group. I like to view massage as a tool to promote and encourage longevity in the body.
