Sports Massage

Part of my bodywork history includes 10-years of martial arts training, and during these many years, I thought how it would be good to help others with soft tissue conditions. Ten years after my career ended in martial arts, I decided to change course, go back to school, and this is where I met a teacher, Rod Diehm, at Everest Institute. After graduating from Everest, I continued with some additional education for three months, under the tutelage of Rod Diehm in the Massage Therapy Sports Specialist Program. During this training, I discovered a deep desire to help clients in this modality. There are many modalities to choose from, but this one, in particular, resonated with me. When I began to watch clients get better, hear their positive results and feel the structure change under my hands, I knew this would be a clear way I could give back to others in need of bodywork. For the short time Rod was a mentor to me, and over the 14+ years as a massage therapist, he has become a close friend. We have spent many hours, not only in class(es), but personally sitting together in discussion. I believe Rod has shown me a way to give life back to my clients, such as decreasing anxiety, increasing mobility, reducing pain, etc., with the overall effect helping them unlock their ability to return to their active lives. As I have experienced the results Sports Massage provides for athletes, this modality also applies to everyone who may need a relaxing full body massage, restorative auto accident care, results from active lifestyle bodywork or require rehabilitative care for soft tissue injuries.
