A Brief History

Every Body Deserves a Massage Week was started in 1995 by ABMP in order to unite the community of bodywork professionals to lend a “hand” (so to speak) to help those less fortunate. Now in it’s 20th year, ABMP is still encouraging bodywork professionals from all over the country to participate.

What Is It?

The week is designed to bring new people to the world of massage therapy and bodywork by donating time and massages to people who ordinarily may not be able to afford it.

How Can I Get Involved?

Whether you’re a one-person operation or have a large practice, there are plenty of ways you can get involved. You can use this week to volunteer and give massages to public service workers who need the added stress relief—people like firefighters, police officers or teachers.

You can host an event aimed at educating people about the benefits of massage for pain and stress relief.

You can encourage clients to donate your usual service fee to a charity.

You can donate your tips to charity.

How It Helps

By promoting your outreach to the community, your charitable donations, or your educational event, you help expand your business’s brand awareness in your immediate area. By lending your time to someone in need, you may get a new client (whether it is them or a friend they speak to about your wonderful service). If nothing else, you will have paid it forward and helped advance your profession as a whole.

How Do I Market My Involvement?

There’s no time to waste since Every Body Deserves a Massage Week begins next Monday. ABMP makes it easy for their members. Simply visit ABMP.com to grab a customizable press release or reserve a sign for your practice. If you’d rather tackle marketing on your own, call upon some help from the local charity you’re donating to, or local professionals you plan on helping and ask how you can cross-promote your event with them. They’ll be more than willing to help you extend your network for the benefit of their organization!
