JJ Tiziou

"Everyone is Photogenic" – (Literally: "light-generating")

Every human body is a sacred thing.

I started off observing bodies through a camera through a decade of work as a photographer (photographing performances, surgeries, weddings, protests, you name it) and in the process was not kind to my own body... Being introduced to yoga and then bodywork has been transformative for me, and I'm grateful to be able to share these practices with others.

I'm a visual artist, community organizer, trained yoga teacher and now adding massage therapy to my skills...

I'm a visual artist, community organizer, trained yoga teacher and now adding massage therapy to my skillset. I host house concerts that have been written up in the Inquirer, and have walked the full perimeter of Philadelphia four times. My 85,000 sq. ft. How Philly Moves mural at PHL International Airport was recognized as one of the nation’s best public art projects by Americans for the Arts.

My work has always been about connection, healing, and community caretaking. Massage therapy offers me an opportunity to channel these skills into slower, one-on-one interactions; this is a great complement to the life of crowds, cameras and computers that I'd built for myself.

Check out my website at www.jjtiziou.net for more on my art & community projects – you'll find that I've enjoyed working with all sorts of people, and I'd be happy to work with you through the Student Clinic at the Philadelphia School of Massage & Bodywork. Once licensed, I'll be working primarily out of West Philly but may also continue offering sessions out of PSMB's space.

If you have any questions for me or would like to schedule a session to help me in my training, don't hesitate to reach out!

JJ was very professional and his technique was great. He offered helpful tips for how I could stretch out especially tight areas at home as well.
