In this uncertain time, we are all in need of taking care of our physical selves as much as our mental and emotional selves. I am excited to announce the re-opening and restructuring of my bodywork services, with careful consideration of best practices in accordance with recommendations provided by AMTA, APTA, CMS and CDC during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, a Licensed Massage Therapist, and a trainer I have been working hard to promote physical well-being in my patients, clients and athletes for nearly 10 years. The current state of the world has made it abundantly clear how necessary it is to take care of ourselves through movement, therapeutic touch and self-care.
Considerations for re-opening include: implementation of effective management of infection control, prioritization on patient/client and provider safety with risk assessment based on population/community, updated operational requirements and procedures, and changes in payment model.
In addition to Massage Therapy, I will now be operating as an out of network provider for Physical Therapy services, therefore requiring no need for a doctor visit or physician referral. Although I will not be accepting insurance, that does not mean an insurer won’t pay for my services. Upon request, I can provide you with a receipt which will include my NPI (National Provider Identifier) number, all the appropriate ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) codes as well as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, which you may choose to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement depending on your plan.
With this model, patients/clients will be able to receive necessary and appropriate services based on clinical assessment. My knowledge and expertise, in conjunction with patient input, will be used to develop your effective treatment plan. Your treatment plan will include variations on length of appointments, number of visits, and type of services provided which may not fit the usual confines of reimbursable plans of care, all while ultimately leading to a possible reduction in cost for management of physical conditions. In summary, the decision to not accept insurance at this time allows me and you the flexibility to cater more to your specific needs by providing intervention programs that are not always covered under most insurance plans. Individualized plans will be established and may entail Physical Therapy and/or Massage Therapy.
After the evaluation portion of your initial physical therapy visit, treatment and subsequent sessions may include and are not limited to: manual therapy including soft tissue massage, joint mobilizations, myofascial release and stretching; therapeutic exercise performance and recommendations; use of modalities such as heat, ice, cupping, and intermittent compression; and provision of recommended follow-up rehabilitation. You may also choose to receive massage therapy services only.
My hope is that you choose to take advantage of this shift in practice model based upon the value I can provide to facilitating your goals of improved movement. Should you need skilled PT services and prefer to remain in network with your insurance carrier, please use me as a resource for finding an alternative provider, and consider a session for massage therapy only instead to supplement your PT.
MASSAGE THERAPY NOTE: Additional sound-proofing measures are underway! Until that time, please be aware that though your session will take place in a private room, the office is in a building shared by CrossFit Yarmouth. CrossFit classes are 1 hour long and may present excessive noise and distraction. Please consider an appointment time that is not when CrossFit classes are underway if you feel this may impede your desired massage therapy experience. CrossFit classes that occur during Centreboard open hours are: weekdays at 9 AM, noon, 4:30, and 5:30 PM, Saturdays 8:30-11:30 AM. Please contact me via phone call, text, email, Facebook message, Instagram message or message through MassageBook account if you have any questions or concerns about this or your appointment time!
