Emily Shumate has been practicing massage and bodywork therapy since 1998. Between 1998 and 2007 she contracted with multiple physician and chiropractic offices within Wilmington providing medical massage therapy services, Physical therapy aide services and chiropractic assisting, while maintaining a private practice within an alternative medicine co-op.
Although Emily’s main focus is massage therapy she is also a graduate of Miller Motte College and
has worked in dermatology and plastic surgery offices before settling in to orthopaedics for the last 9 years as a clinical assistant.
Emily feels blessed to have multiple years experience in both traditional and alternative therapies. Her mission is to use her multidiscipline background to provide optimal care to her clients. She understands that often times a multiple discipline approach is in the best interest for the client and is eager to work with multiple providers to coordinate the best care for the client. Her mission is to use her massage, chiropractic, orthopaedic and surgical experience backgrounds to provide optimal/ educated care and work with multiple disciplines to help coordinate the clients path.
Emily is a native Wilmingtonian. She is the proud mother of three smart, handsome, and witty teenage boys. She enjoys Friday night High School football games and watching the Bands of Ashley High School Perform, hiking and camping with her three Boy Scouts, and sunset walks with her boys and Labradoodle. She is a passionate authentic and solo traveler. She has interests in Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics and is always looking new people to meet to discuss quantum theories. After working 9 years in primarily a surgical and traditional medicine offices, her goal for 2015 is to develop her energy practices. hide
