I was first attracted to the field of massage when I was 21 and living in Chicago. I would open the Chicago Reader every week and scour the want-ads, and my eyes kept falling on ads that were looking for a licensed massage therapist. I let my mind wander and decided I could see myself doing this work, that it would be satisfying to connect with people in this way. The next year, I moved to Madison, WI following a boyfriend. I toured all of the accredited massage schools in the Madison area. There are some really nice schools out there, but Blue Sky School of Professional Massage & Therapeutic Bodywork was the one that felt right for me. The boyfriend didn't last, but my passion for massage was just beginning.
Since finishing school, I started to focus most intently on Precision Neuromuscular Therapy. I have spent many hours studying, attending, and teach assisting these precision bodywork seminars, which focus on pain and musculo-skeletal dysfunction in various parts of the body. This type of work is excellent for patients who are experiencing such problems as:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Sciatic Nerve Pain
I have a regular customer base who comes in for relaxation massage, as well, so in 2012 I completed Gaia's Touch Heated Stone Massage training, and am now certified in hot stone massage therapy. This type of massage promotes deep relaxation, better sleep patterns, pain reduction, better digestion, and improved immune system functioning.
I am available to provide massage in the city of Milwaukee at my independent practice, Lightwork Therapeutic Massage, which is located on Capitol Dr, just east of HWY 43. I have been in this location for four years now, and have the extra perk of being right next door to Outpost, the health food store.
When I am not at work, I enjoy learning about the medicinal and culinary uses of common local plants, writing, riding a bike, traveling, and making mosaics. hide
