Massage is an excellent way to address many issues, in both body and mind.
I've been a clinical massage therapist for 18 years, and through my years of training and experience, I've developed a therapeutic style that utilizes various massage techniques (working with muscle tissue, fascia, lymph, the CNS), and with differing pressure (from light touch to the use of my forearms). I deliver a dynamic session that releases knots, lengthens and releases muscle fiber and fascia, softens chronically tight tissue, restores circulation, helps with nerve impingement, and moves sluggish lymph fluid. My clients report relief from over-use symptoms often caused by long hours spent behind the computer, from using minuscule movements operating our small digital devices which can cause pain in the hands, thumbs, and neck, and from soreness due to "weekend warrior" recreational activities. Your nervous system also gets a reset during the massage, causing deep relaxation in both body and mind. Between-the-shoulder burning, tingling arms/hands, thumb pain, stiff neck, headache and eye strain, and mid- and low-back pain is greatly reduced or may be relieved entirely after a session or two on my table. Scheduling regular massage (once a week, every other week, or monthly) can keep you in good shape by either quickly alleviating pain, or preventing chronic tension from developing into a deeper issue that requires further assistance from other healthcare practitioners.
Every massage I offer is client-centered, using the pressure you prefer, working toward relieving pain and tension, or to merely enjoy a chance to relax and unwind, which is also very valuable to help balance out your busy lifestyle.
