Greetings.
I'm a former finance-guy turned personal trainer after the financial crisis of 2008. After several seasons of triathlon racing including two Ironman races, hip surgery (i.e., FAI), and embracing the necessity for healthy aging, I entered vocational trade school to get a massage license so that I could practice a fancy form of stretching on my clients and also take better care of myself.
The fancy form of stretching prompted me to improve my understanding of anatomy...so I enrolled in a full-body (human, of course) dissection class. 40-hours wasn't enough for me so I sought out and managed my way into a full-semester graduate-level anatomy course offered as part of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
To keep the story short, I am now enrolled in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program at George Washington University with an expected graduation date of May 2022. I am a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (i.e., Student Affiliation). Beyond pursuing the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, I am pursuing continuing education courses in Active Release Therapy (ART) and am developing continuing education units (CEUs) for manual therapists.
I have been self-employed since 2008. I hold a MS degree in Exercise Science from George Washington University. My graduate thesis involved the evaluation of a 12-week cognitive-behavioral program that served to increase exercise adherence within a commercial-gym setting.
I have worked with a variety of clients including professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and stay-at-home moms/dads.
