Michigan Massage and Wellness in Troy Michigan offers therapeutic massage, auto accident and medical massage, Ashiatsu, Fascial Stretch Therapy, Lokte Method, prenatal massage, and more.

We are an outcome based massage practice specializing in unique modalities to combat problems such as migraines, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, pre/post-surgery recovery, and of course, the every day stress that life brings.

We are of the only places in the state to offer Yoga Tune Up® classes to focus on reducing/eliminating pain, improving posture, and enhancing performance using Roll Model® therapy balls. No meditation or zen, rather the focus with Yoga Tune Up® is exercise, mobility, self massage, functional and restorative movement.

Hi everyone! Welcome to Michigan Massage and Wellness! Here's a little about how I got to where I am today....

I've spent my entire life in Michigan and in my early 20's, studied business administration while working in the automotive industry. I liked my job and the work but valued my time and freedom over being a cubicle slave, so on a whim one evening I enrolled at Irene's Myomassology Institute in Southfield, Michigan where I completed a 600 hour program and graduated in June 2003. The course of study included Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and elective massage courses that included Thai, Shiatsu, Prenatal, Infant, Hot Stone, Sports, Myoskeletal Alignment and Myofascial Release. After graduation, I bounced around a bit trying to find my niche in day spas, chiropractic offices, physical therapy and massage clinics. Once again not wanting to be stuck on someone else's schedule and 'rules', I stumbled into my own practice (a bit by accident) and I opened Royal Oak Massage in October, 2004 and in May 2017 I moved to Troy and rebranded myself as Michigan Massage and Wellness.

I thrive on fixing people. Whether it's using Lokte Method to relieve plantar fasciitis from that marathon someone just ran to incorporating fascial stretch therapy for improved range of motion to teaching a class using Yoga Tune Up therapy balls, after a visit you will see what sets us apart.

I am a licensed massage therapist (7501004442), a 12+ year member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. I also worked in the apprentice program at Irene's from 2004-2005. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, photography, working out, cooking, spending time with my dogs Elliot and Cooper and pursuing my other passion as a Primal Health Coach.

I am not a fan of stretching - it usually hurts and I probably do it wrong half the time... The workshop used therapy balls and we learned to use them effectively - still hearts to do it, but results were immediate. Started to apply the same moves in the office during breaks and my back and shoulder have improved a lot.

I recently completed massage therapy training at Irene’s Myomassology Institute and am a licensed massage therapist in the state of Michigan (#7501010856). Having been in a chiropractic office setting, as an assistant, for a few years made me realize the impact alternative medicine had – It lit a fire in me and I knew I wanted to promote wellness through the power of touch.
As a longtime outdoor enthusiast, I understand the importance of rest and recovery. I deeply believe in the healing potential of massage therapy and bodywork. My goal as a massage therapist is to fully listen to my clients’ needs through what they tell me, as well as through what their bodies communicate in order to support the body's natural healing process. I focus on a heartfelt, nurturing therapeutic massage using a combination of focused, concentrated pressure along with long flowing strokes for a massage that is both curative and relaxing - tailoring each session to that client’s unique needs.
I am very enthusiastic about my career and I am working on adding more to my toolbox. I am planning on attending the Lotke Method 1 course in September and looking into getting my Level 1 Fascial Stretch Therapy certification in 2019 .
On my down time, I love exploring the great outdoors with my husband and dog, finding adventure everywhere, creating new dishes in the kitchen and catching up on all things paleo.

But, you can't get great fascia stretch therapy, stretch yoga classes or mobility classes. If you have shoulder, back or joint pain this is the place to go for a class or a short session.

The Reboot Your Glutes class was great! I learned exercises and stretches to help my glutes work more effectively. Using the yoga tune up balls hurt so good. So I had been suffering from headaches which were diagnosed by my gp as tension headaches because she said I was carrying a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders. Her remedy was to prescribe muscle relaxers - didn't do a thing for me. I have seen Rebecca many times before when I saw her two weeks ago I told her of the headaches. She focused on neck and shoulders and did some stretches. The next weeks I felt great! Headaches virtually gone. I returned to Rebecca just this past week and told her how effective the last massage was so she repeated and added the Lockte method. Let me tell you the headaches are gone, no tension in neck and shoulders and I haven't felt this good in weeks. I am telling you if you have tried other methods of relaxation and pain relief and have not found them to work go and see Rebecca for a real therapeutic healing massage. Not a fluffy day at the spa but a real legitimate healing experience.

Everything was great but today my fasciitis is the same. My knees are about the same but that may be because I told her the pain was on the side but today it actually seems to be on top. I've had 5 half hour sessions at Royal Oak Massage with Rebecca and this method has worked faster and longer than the typical massage.It seems to pinpoint muscle pain and tension for a better determination of its location and cause. The waiting room is very basic, so if you're looking for that "spa feel" while you wait, you won't find it here. HOWEVER! The massage room is everything you'd want/expect, and was perfect for our relaxing, pre-wedding massages! It was comfortable, the temp was perfect, and it was just dim enough to be relaxing, without that feeling of being left in the dark.

I was in need of some MAJOR deep tissue work due to over training and another athlete recommended this place! Rebecca easily found my trouble spots and worked them HARD! If you are concerned whether she can provide enough pressure - be rest assured - yet she always checked in to make sure the pressure was appropriate for me. If you are looking for fancy solon spa atmosphere, this isn't it but the atmosphere was very clean, cozy, relaxing, and comfortable for what I was there for. I already scheduled a follow up to continue at my trouble spots!
