Melissa received her introduction to kinesiology (the scientific study of human movement) as a young athlete. This exposure sparked a hunger for knowledge which led her to a devoted study of exercise science. After achieving competency in the study of body mechanics, Melissa turned to a career in personal training as a means of helping others to maximize their potential ability and attain their personal fitness goals. Although this career path allowed her to help and guide individuals in their efforts, Melissa felt drawn more towards her clients who were working their way back from injury. With this inclination towards recuperative emphasis, she began to research the merits of massage therapy when combined with fitness training. In 2004, after receiving her certification as a massage therapist, she began establishing her reputation as a deep tissue, sports, and clinical therapist in Tulsa, Ok. By combining her working knowledge of body mechanics with the philosophies of therapeutic massage, Melissa was able to provide her clientele with recuperative/reparative healing, the likes of which they had not experienced through physical therapy or chiropractic care alone. While working closely with several local chiropractors, Melissa began to evolve her understanding of what the root source for her clients’ chronic issues was: Imbalance. Melissa combined her knowledge of kinesiology, her passion for helping others to heal, and her acute awareness of the body’s innate proclivity towards homeostasis into a massage concept to facilitate structural balance. Melissa identifies the symmetric discrepancies in her clients and uses several different techniques to release the restrictions causing them. The results have been more successful than she ever could have hoped. Clients suffering with chronic pain for years have experienced drastic changes in pain levels as well as increased range of motion while under Melissa’s care.
