Life in the modern world can be busy and stressful. Often we have so many demands on our attention that we neglect the messages our bodies are giving us until something big happens like an illness or injury. Massage can help support our bodies to recover and heal from the big traumas of life such as major illness, surgery, car accidents, or overuse injuries, but it can also help us rebalance and recalibrate when we are feeling out of balance from the stresses of everyday life. That is the beauty of massage - it is both therapeutic in the clinical sense of treating specific physical complaints, but it is also holistic in that it supports healing not only in the physical body, but also on the emotional and energetic levels as well.
I have always enjoyed helping people particularly those who have faced difficulties in their lives. I was drawn to massage after volunteering with recovery efforts in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. During my time there, I had the pleasure of meeting a number of integrative healthcare practitioners - including massage therapists - who were volunteering their time to help people whose lives had been dramatically affected by the storm and the events that followed. I was involved in the very important work of mold remediation in the devastated lower 9th ward, but I really wished I could be one of those massage therapists that got to help people in a very direct and nurturing way. In 2009, after 18 months of schooling, I received my license and have had a rich and rewarding practice ever since.
My practice incorporates a number of modalities including Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, and craniosacral therapy. I am certified in pregnancy massage and have an endorsement in intra-oral massage which is an effective treatment for TMJ disorders, jaw pain, and headaches. I enjoy working with people of all backgrounds and I work especially well with people who are new to massage or have some fear around receiving bodywork.
I look forward to working with you and helping you to feel whole again. hide
