Alex Brown is a certified massage therapist based in San Francisco, CA. Alex is an expert in pain relief and range of motion optimization through manual techniques.
Alex's goal is to help clients achieve best potential by integrating movement practices, mindful and rehabilitative exercises, and nutritional suggestions for recovery and prevention. She is very experienced with integrative applications and explains them in a practical, easy-to-understand manner.
Primary techniques she uses are: myofascial release, trigger point therapy, active isolated stretching, sports massage, active release, positional release, and structural integration. She typically follows up with exercise or movement suggestions depending on what you're dealing with.
Sessions are typically partially clothed, there is a lot of upfront assessment on gait, functional movement, and range of motion.
She asks that all clients bring a pair of shorts and ladies bring a sports bra or tank top.
Alex accepts clients of all walks, including: pre and post natal, amateur and professional athletes, trauma victims from car accidents or violent injuries, fibromyalgia, pelvic or low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches, extremity injuries or pain, problems from driving/typing/commuting/carrying, spine range of motion and pain, and TMJ dysfunction/pain.
*NOTE: Alex will not perform relaxation effleurage and petrissage generally associated with Swedish massages or deep tissue massages. Her sessions should be used as learning experience about your body's limitations and potential, especially if you have chronic or acute pain.
She has been in practice for 10 years working with a range of clients from professional athletes to trauma victims. Her application of myofascial manipulation goes beyond the treatment room with her background in Pilates, CHEK education, and athletics. hide
