Our goal at Empowering Hands goes beyond providing a relaxing massage for our clients. We aim to provide a safe healing environment to bring the body and mind back to optimal health through therapeutic bodywork. Working with each client’s individual needs our therapists will develop a road map that will be customized to exactly what each client needs whether you are seeking a long term treatment plan for chronic pain or are interested in finding the tension and stress relief provided by occasional sessions.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy uses a variety of trigger point techniques to provide a deep and lasting relaxation of your muscular problems. This session will include a assessment of the body to find the underlying cause of irritation. Often during a Neuromuscular session the practitioner will only work a few body parts for the duration of the treatment rather than the whole body to address the problem area. This is the ideal for those that are experiencing chronic pain from injury or improper/over use.

Emily graduated Maui School of Therapeutic Massage in 2012. There she studied Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Therapy under the late James Hackett who recently has been inducted in to the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame. She became passionate about Structural Integration after finding the body work they were practicing in those specific classes had given her relief from the pain caused by her Scoliotic curvature of her spine. Eager to help others who have muscular pain caused by postural imbalances she began focusing her education on Structural Integration. While studying in Maui she had also been introduced to Hawaiian Lomi Lomi by Jeana Iwalani. Inspired by the Hawaiian culture and the philosophy behind traditional Hawaiian medicine, Emily began an immersion class where she got the opportunity to study the Hawaiian culture. Emily received a thorough education in Big Island Style Hawaiian Lomi Lomi. Combining her knowledge fascia and trigger points from Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Therapy and the fluidity and intention of connecting down to the bones from Lomi, Emily has developed a soothing yet very affective massage style.
Emily began working in the Professional Clinic at MSTM right out of school and briefly assisted teachers in the classroom before she made her way back home to the mainland. Emily began her own private practice in Northern California until she moved to the Bay Area to begin working at the Ritz Carlton Spa in Halfmoon Bay where she was highly requested. Although she enjoyed working in the spa setting, Emily longed to get back in to more therapeutic body work. She then began working as a contracted employee at Google in Mountain View California. Her approval rating is an outstanding 98% favorable, voted by the Google employees that have received her work. Emily is now a Nationally Board Certified Massage Therapist and is excited to bring Scotts Valley a luxury massage experience with out straying away from the therapeutic benefits of massage at an affordable rate for many.

Tara graduated from The National Holistic Institute School of Massage Therapy in October
2017. There she studied a 900 program of Eastern and Western massage modalities. Her
Swedish massages are combined with shiatsu, hand and foot Reflexology and Myofascial

I liked that Jake really focused on my specific needs for this massage. I wanted neck and back focus. Would have liked to have my arms done a little, for a minute or two as well even tho there was areas I needed more focus on. My usual time preference for massage is longer than an hour which does provide more time for my limbs.

He’s amazing! He asked specific questions to see what was going on with my problematic body area, explained why he was doing different techniques to those areas during the massage, and then gave me specific instructions on stretches to do at home to help me help myself. Didn’t think I would feel this much improvement this soon. (I still have a ways to go, but there’s less cramping/pain when I walk and I attribute this to Jake’s knowledge and technique.)

The room was freezing cold which was unpleasant. I want to be warm and comfortable when receiving a massage. The table was heated but whatever body part was being worked on was very cold. Massage therapist hands were ice cold as well. It wasn’t the optimal experience.

All I have to say is I have been to a LOT of massage therapists and Emily by far has been one of the best! I am very particular and nervous about having people touch certain areas which are tender, she is very gentle and precise. Her ability to find those “spots” and manipulate your muscles into submission is remarkable. She found areas I didn’t even know were tight and she massaged them right out. She is very professional and discreet, listening to what is bothering you and checking to make sure the pressure is good. She definitely has healing hands and she gives you a combination of all of her modalities. She is especially skilled with myofascial release technique. If you can’t already tell how impressed I am and pleased with her technique and abilities, I bought the 5 session packet. I can’t wait to see her again. I look forward to seeing her new place and her vision for the future. Thank you so much Emily, you are a Godsend!
