Balanced Body Massage and Bodywork is a private practice located in the city of Roswell, north of Atlanta.

Therapeutic sessions at Balanced Body strive to improve the quality of life for every client through personalized interaction. After a few quick questions and a short physical assessment, the practitioner will remedy your pain, stress, or tension using a variety of techniques including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Isometric Body Balancing, Active Release, or Myoskeletal Alignment. The benefits range for each client from an increased range of motion or improved mobility to a greater endurance or a universal balance in everyday life.

Bodywork Services

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage uses a variety of massage techniques to address an area or areas of particular concern. During the session the muscles are relaxed first using long Swedish strokes, followed by detailed attention to the troubled areas. The pressure is adjusted to the client’s temperament and several techniques may be used throughout the massage, such as Active Release, Body Balancing, Myofascial Release or Myo-skeletal Alignment.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue is a blend of massage techniques that utilize an intense pressure to address the sublayers of muscles. After the superficial muscles are warm, the practitioner uses their forearms, fists, knuckles, or fingers to penetrate the deep layer muscles and connective tissue. The focus is to break up adhesions and fascial restrictions, thus relaxing the contracted area and relieving pain.

Isometric Muscle and Body Balancing

gentle manipulation of the muscles to reactivate neuropathways between the brain and the muscle. With pain or stress there is often overworked or underused muscles that need attention. When a movement of a joint is done correctly there is less energy exerted and a wider range of motion. During the treatment the tight muscles are stretched to promote relaxation so the weak muscles can be activated and strengthened.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage also commonly known as the pregnancy massage and is specially designed for pregnant women. The practitioner is trained in positioning pregnant women to bring them the most comfort. During the massage the client is mostly in a side lying position with pillows to enhance support. A blend of relaxing and therapeutic massage techniques are used to relieve back and hip pain as well as reduce overall stress.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient art of healing that uses pressure points on your feet and hands to address issues. All aspects of the body are broken down into zones that that have a reflex area associated in the hands or feet. Pressure is applied to the corresponding feet/hands area to relieve pain or promote well-being. This technique encourages healing through increased blood flow and the stimulation of the nerves.

Zuzana McDaniel is originally from Bratislava, Slovakia but has lived in the Outer Banks of North Carolina for the past 10 years. In Slovakia she studied Regional Development and after graduating from her University she enjoyed traveling for a time. After meeting her husband in the OBX, she took up a permanent residence and started a family. Zuzana continuously seeks balance throughout all aspects of life whether it be her family, nutrition, work, entertainment, or herself.
Zuzana’s interest in massage began in childhood when her father hurt his back as a karate instructor. He introduced her to a Shiatsu style back massage to aid him with his pain and after seeing his relief, she was intrigued. When she was 13, her whole family moved to China for 2 years. Fascinated by the culture, holistic healing and martial arts further deepened her desire to learn. It was not until she came to the United States that she had the opportunity to pursue a massage career.
Zuzana graduated from Advanced Fuller School of Massage Therapy in 2011, which soon after led to her licensure. Her early career began with student massages at the school thus gaining experience through the discounted massage services. After passing the school requirements and the year of mentoring at Fuller’s, Zuzana began work at Aqua Day Spa in Duck, NC and later transitioned to Anew U massage in Elizabeth City.
Through her massage travels, she was introduced to a modality called Isometric Muscle and Body Balancing. Zuzana was fascinated by this technique as the philosophy at its core aligned with her outlook on life. Harmony in all things translates directly to Isometric Balancing. She is able to work and release tight or overactive muscles and strengthen the under active ones to relieve the body of pain. This coupled with her studies of myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and deep tissue, she has helped many people manage pain and find balance.
Zuzana strives to bring a sense of well-being and relaxation to all those involved in her life whether it be family, friends, a client, or herself.

So glad to get back to regular massage with Zuzana.I had surgery at the Duke Cancer Center in September to remove a large tumor from my Sciatic nerve. I had become stagnant in my recovery and Susana got everything moving again. Her knowledge of therapeutic stretching combined with deep tissue got my hips back in alignment. Highly recommend her skills as part of recovery from surgery

Zuzana was very nice and professional. I wish there was some noise-canceling to not be able to hear the people outside the room, but in a small place, that is difficult.
