All of my life I knew I wanted to take care of people so naturally I entered the healthcare field as an aspiring nurse. I began as a dietary aide at a nearby hospital. Five years later I started the nurse's aide program. I worked as a nurse's aide for about eight years and was finally accepted into a nursing program only to realize after three semesters that nursing was no longer hands on so I left the program. I loved being a nurse's aide because it allowed me to give the care that I longed to give instead of doing paperwork and passing medicine. After 13 years I was ready for a change however I had no idea what I wanted to do. One of my favorite patients kept telling me that I had "the Midas touch" and should consider massage therapy. I actually just laughed it off, however he kept saying it. I decided to call a school and inquire about their program. I started my training three weeks later. You see, I laughed it off because I knew nothing about the therapeutic benefits of massage therapy. I thought it was something for rich people who nothing to do. Ha! How happy I was when I learned that I would still be of service to those in need. I absolutely love what I do!
