Massage Therapy
Even though this a very common request, I will never use deep tissue until a client is in pain. Tension during a massage is the complete opposite of our goal. My deep tissue also involves some myofascial release due to a very slow flow. During a slow flow, forearms and elbows will be used, and the client is able to feel the specific area, and can help me to find the point of pain. Checking in with the client during this type of session should be expected, so don't be afraid to help guide me to your comfort level.
Swedish massage was the main focus during school, and I feel that I have mastered this area. I've had multiple clients come in just to relax, and swedish massage is perfect for this. There is a constant flow with longer strokes, lighter pressure and giving you the chance to breathe. This type of massage is great for melting stress and anxiety away. This is normally a full body massage and can include essential oils specified for stress relief.
Therapeutic is a new area of massage that I have been working on. I find it to benefit clients that have extremely tense muscles. This can be caused by stress, fatigue and everyday work. During therapeutic sessions, trigger point and stretches are used throughout with the combination of a flow to help the muscles stay relaxed. Stretching is such an important factor for our muscles, and I do my best to help with this area. Therapeutic can be deeper pressure and discomfort can occur with stretches, so I will be checking in with you from time to time. Remember to always communicate any pain. It won't hurt my feelings!
Acupressure is my passion, most definitely. This was a large focus during school, and learning the technique seemed to come natural to me. During acupressure, a tension area may be found. Included with a swedish flow, I will place a specific compression on that area, normally with my thumbs, and hold for around 20 seconds. This will be repeated throughout the massage, and helps the muscles to loosen without having to use painful pressure.
