Hello!

My name is Daniel Morales. I’ve had an interest in bodywork for as long as I can remember.  When I was 4 years old, I was recruited by my Great-Grandmother to work on her neck and shoulders.  It was gratifying to know that I was able to help her with the aches and pains she experienced often.  This was just the beginning of my career in massage.

I grew up a two-sport athlete playing basketball and baseball.  When my teammates in high school had injuries or needed stretching, they would come to me.  They knew I liked manipulating muscles.  The same thing applied in college while attending the University of San Francisco to play baseball.  During my four years at USF, I studied to receive a Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Sports Science.  Outside of studying and playing baseball, I worked as a Student Athletic Trainer.  This was the perfect opportunity to work with athletes from all sports competing at an elite level.

After graduating from USF, I was drafted in the 14th round by the Cleveland Indians.  Playing at the Single A level for two seasons was a great experience, but an even better opportunity to work with athletes at the professional level.  At that level, there is one strength and conditioning coach and one athletic trainer.  Frequently asking the guys if they needed a good stretch and some deep muscle release, I began consistent stretching and muscle manipulation routines with several of my teammates.  This sealed the deal for my career as a massage therapist.  I learned very quickly that working with athletes was my passion because I can relate to them on different levels.  I understand their dedication, work ethic, their physical/mental stresses, and how hard they push their bodies, day-in and day-out, to reach their optimal level of performance.

At the completion of my career in professional baseball with the Indians, it was time to pursue my passion as a massage therapist.  One year later, I graduated, with honors, from the National Holistic Institute making me a certified massage therapist.  Following graduation until now, I’ve worked with the UC Berkeley men’s swim team, in the training room at USF with athletes from every sport, at triathlons, and most recently, in a chiropractic office in Palo Alto focusing on injury prevention and pain management.

When it comes to the body and the pains it experiences, I believe that where the pain is it really isn't. Every muscle is connected in some way. The body should be looked at as a whole, not just the areas or pain or discomfort. There was something that created the pain, whether it be from a past injury, surgery, posture, etc., and it is my goal to find the root cause of the problem.

My training includes 187 hours of continuing education in Neuromuscular Therapy, certification in Rocktape (Functional Movement Tapping 1 & 2), Neurokinetic Therapy (Level 1 certified), and certification in Advanced Cupping Therapy.  In 2013 and 2014, I was co-recipient of “Best of Palo Alto” for Massage and Chiropractic with my chiropractor, Aaron Vanderhoof, DC.
